In Japanese-American incarceration camps in the U.S., there were art classes led by Japanese-American artists, and many Japanese-Americans were allowed to paint or draw landscapes and other pictures there.
In this project, I drew Pictures by referring to the Pictures of unknown artists who created there and imagining the Picture my great-grandfather might have created.
アメリカの日系人強制収容所では、日系人アーティストが指導する美術教室が存在し、多 くの日系人が風景画などを描くことが許可されていました。このプロジェクトでは、そこ で描かれた無名の画家たちの作品を参考に、私の曽祖父が描いたであろう絵を想像しなが ら、絵を制作しました。
